प्रेतासनोपविष्टं तं सर्वाभरण्भुषितम्| दिव्यमाल्याम्बरधरं दिव्यगन्धानु लेपनम सर्वाश्चर्यमयं देवं हनुमद्विश्वतोमुखम्||११||

पंचास्यमच्युतमनेकविचित्रवर्णवक्त्रं शशांकशिखरं कपिराजवर्यम्| पीताम्बरादिमुकुटै रूप शोभितांगं पिंगाक्षमाद्यमनिशं मनसा स्मरामि||१२||

Panchmukhi hanuman kavach

Hanuman is the favorite God for many. He is known by various names such as Rama Bhakta (devotee of Lord Rama), Pavanputra (son of Wind God, Vaayu), Anjaneya (son of Anjani), and so on. The adventures of Lord Hanuman are described in the Sundara Kaandam, a part of the epic Ramayana. Reading various chapters of this scripture brings specific benefits. It is believed that the devotees of Lord Hanuman are not affected by malefic attributes of planets, mainly Shani Bhagwan or Saturn, evil forces, and negative energies. There are several hymns in praise of Lord Hanuman, the most popular being the 40 stanza Hanuman Chalisa.

As the following mantra indicates, Lord Hanuman provides his devotees with knowledge, power, courage, and health.

Budhdirbalam yasho dhairyam nirbhayatvam arogata
Ajaadtyam vakpatutvam cha hanumat smaranadbhavet
Panchamukhi refers to five faces. According to the scriptures, Lord Hanuman assumed this form to slay Mahiravana, brother of Ravana. Mahiravana was a sorcerer and an ardent devotee of Goddess Mahamaya. Instigated by Ravana, Mahiravana took Lord Rama and his brother Lakshmana to Paathaala Loka (the netherworld) and was tempted to sacrifice them to Goddess Mahamaya.To save the divine brothers, Lord Hanuman had to stub out five lamps burning in different directions simultaneously. He therefore assumed the Panchamukha form to win this task.
The Panchamukha form of Lord Hanuman has the following five faces:

• Hanuman (a fervent devotee of Lord Rama) – facing the east
• Narasimha ( an incarnation of Lord Vishnu, who slayed Hiranyakashipu) – facing the south
• Garuda ( the mount of Lord Krishna) – facing the west
• Varaha (an incarnation of Lord Vishnu, who slayed the demon Hiranyaksha) – facing the north
• Hayagriva (an incarnation of Lord Vishnu, considered the God of wisdom)– facing upwards

The Panchamukha Hanuman Stuthi is a potent stotra meant to praise each of the five forms. This stotra helps to alleviate troubles and keep evil forces away. It serves as a protection to devotees who chant with utmost faith.

Om namo bhagavathe panchavadanaaya poorva kapi mukhe
Sakala shatru samhaarnaaya swaaha
The east facing form of Lord Hanuman protects devotees from problems caused by enemies. He provides happiness and fulfills wishes.

Om namo bhagavathe panchavadanaaya dakshina mukhe
Karaala vadanaaya Narasimhaaya sakala bhoota praeta pramadanaaya swaaha
The south facing form of Lord Narasimha removes all types of fear, sins, unfavorable influences of spirits and demons, and fulfills our wishes.

Om namo bhagavathe panchavadanaaya paschima mukhe
Garudaaya sakala visha haranaaya swaaha
The west facing form of Lord Garuda removes all types of ailments, negativities, black magic, poison, and fear.

Om namo bhagavathe panchavadanaaya uthara mukhe
Aadivarahaaya sakala sampatkaraaya swaaha
The north facing form of Lord Varaha provides the ashta aishwarya (eight different forms of wealth).

Hayagrivaaya sakala jana vasheekaranaaya swaaha
The upwards facing form of Lord Hayagriva helps devotees attract the goodwill of people. The words of His devotees turn into reality. He bestows them with advancement in seeking knowledge, good company of friends, intelligence, good children, and salvation.
The Panchamukha Hanuman Gayatri can be chanted to overcome obstacles in life.

Tanno Hanumath Prachodayaath
The five forms namely Hanuman, Narasimha, Garuda, Varaha, and Hayagriva can also be invoked individually by chanting specific Gayatri mantras.

Hanuman Gayatri:
Shree aanjaneyaya vidmahe mahabalaaya dhimahi tanno Kapi prachodayat

Narasimha Gayatri:
Vajranakhaaya vidmahe tikshanadamshtraya dhimahi tanno Narasimha prachodayat

Garuda Gayatri:
Tatpurushaaya vidmahe suvarna pakshaya dhimahi tanno Garudah prachodayat

Varaha Gayatri:
Om dhanurdharaya vidmahe vakradamshyara dhimahi tanno Varaha: prachodayat

talked about the way great people behave... He told about a fundamental difference between successful and un-successful people. He said, successful people think - act and communicate in same direction. They act...as per they think..and their communication is in synchronization with their act and thoughts. Unsuccessful people think about something...but they dont act according to what they think and their communication is absolutely different than what they think and act.

The world has accepted the fact that 89% of the issues at workplace and personal life, is because of poor communication. Hence simon said that one need to make sure that their thoughts, acts and communication are in the same line, going on same way. Thats not only a professionalism but an art of life.

Look what tulsidas said in verse 26 of hanuman chalisa.... Sankat se hanuman chhudave, man karm vachan dhyan jo lave...

Sankat ..means issues. Hanuman will not come to you and solve your problems. If you are facing trouble, you have to work yourself. Hanuman can show you the path, and the path is...bringing awareness about your thoughts, deeds and communication - make sure that they are in one direction....direction of your goal...your vision.

So if you are really worried on your failures...your troubles.... Hanuman has opened up the gate of possibilities to you... you can walk on that path....provided you commit yourself....you will make sure that your thoughts - acts and communication follows the same direction.

　

Because of notorious nature of Lord Hanuman in Child, a saint had cursed him that he will forget all his strengths and power, unless someone reminds him. A time came when Ravana - the evil took Sita, Wife of Lord Rama, and it was essential to deliver the message to Sita that Ram will come and fight with Ravana. Hanuman was the only person, who can fly on sea, go to lanka, find sita and give message. However, Hanuman had forgotten the powers. Jambuvan (The bear)

reminded him the powers, and hanuman flied to lanka and gave a message to Sita.

Stories are metaphor, the message is important. Each individual is borne with unlimited powers, zeal of enthusiasm and unending abilities to adapt things. As a child, when you learned to walk, you might have fall down many times...... Research of USA says, on an average child falls down 1200 times before it learn to walk independently. Just think a little.... without a formal education, without any experience... you learned the art of walking.. which seems a task with a great difficulties...!!! You learned it....because you are bestowed with the unlimited power...unending adaptability...unleashed enthusiasm. Failure and pain was the two elements who taught you to learn. A permanent learning is never a pleasurable task.

Clarity of goal, awareness of your power, your strength and a feeling of gratitude (that whatever you are doing...is nothing but a blessing of god)..lead you to such an impossible task... and these ingredients will help you not only to achieve the task (the way hanuman achieved it) but also feel victorious.

Who can remind you about your powers...??? It could be your Guru (Teacher), the person whom you respect a lot, parents, spouse, or it could be you. You learned the great task, with no education..no experience....like walking, speaking the language you speak today etc..... If at this stage, you feel that things are difficult .... you cant do it.... you dont have strengths.... Sit and think... is this a reality or its your belief that you cant do it? Next time, when you go to meet Lord Hanuman and chant Hanuman Chalisa.... when chanting this verse... Remember that... Lord Hanuman is reminding you about your powers, your strengths, your enthusiasm which you have lost in order to grow to adult. Hope you will listen the voice of Hanuman...giving you a WAKE UP CALL..!!!

Aur manorath jo koi laavay soi amit jivan phala paaway

Goal is important .. the message given by this verse. Manorath - means goal...desire. Desire is the first step. In hindu mythology, men is asked to work towards moksha - unending happiness - the only desire of mankind. Moksha is not a place like heaven or hell... its a static state of awareness where you only feel happiness...forever. To attain moksha , unending happiness, Bhagvad Gita (Ancient Hindu Literature) showed three per-requisites.... Kaam, Arth and Dharma.

Kaam - means desire.

Arth - means deeds.

First you must have desire. Your desire should be clear and concise. Clear like an air, transparent, like one can easily understand. Concise, in order to make sure that you remember it and it does not create confusion.

Arth - deeds...to fulfill your desire you must work...you must act. Mere having desire is not the solution. You must work to fulfill your desire. However, how to make sure that the work that you do is correct? its ethical? it does not harm others? ..hence the third ingredient is...

Dharma - The Code of Conduct - Ethics. It talks about the right and wrong. Fundamental laws, governing the classification of any act as Good or Bad. One must do work as per these fundamental laws. Dharma is not Hinduism, or Christianity, they are just laws.

This verse of Hanuman Chalisa, emphasizing on the first step - having a desire....Manorath.
